The Nightmare
Ten years ago this month I started my senior year of High School.
Since my middle and high school were in the same building, it was year number SIX of the same people, the same hallways, the same shit.
I still have nightmares that I'm in the final few months of my last semester and somehow I am failing a class suddenly and I'm a credit short for graduation. The scramble to keep myself from having to return to that hell hole for yet another semester or even another year makes me wake up in cold sweat.
I wasn't openly bullied, at least in the last few years. I was pointedly ignored by many people I thought were friends when I stopped trying to be a carbon copy of every "popular" person in school. Severe social anxiety, introversion, a strong strange streak and a love for weird art and drama club meant that friends were few and not to be trusted.
The nightmares have receded in the past few years, but for a while it was a recurring dream every month or two that I simply could not wake up from.
I see a Facebook group for my graduating class that I haven't been added to and think good. Fuck almost all of you. I never want to see 95% of you again.

What does Josh Duggar have to do to no longer be defended?
Holy shit, you guys. Holy shit.
The train wreck that is the Duggar family reputation keeps getting more and more explosive. I can't stop watching.
Not only did Josh Duggar diddle 5 girls when he was a teen, 4 of them his own sisters, but he allegedly cheated on his wife with a subscription to AshleyMadison.com ('alleged' despite hacked information including his home and billing address, birthday, name, and $986.76 worth of payments on 2 accounts...)
I burst out laughing when I saw the headline. This shit is hilarious.
No, someone getting hacked is not what's funny. It's because someone who preaches about family values and calls gay and trans people immoral child molesters has been exposed as an immoral child molester.
But the real hilarity is buried in comments on all of these articles. I'm astonished at how many people still are defending him and his battered reputation.
The only reason so many people give a shit about this asshole's marriage is because he was so determined to keep other people's marriages impossible.
It's in the past? His account was closed this May- right when the police report of his molestation became public. Not a coincidence.

Anyone can fake an account with someone else's name- but their home and verified billing address, full name, birthday, and nearly $1000 worth of charges to his credit card means that yes, it was him. Or he just so happened not to notice a thousand dollars missing from his accounts.

Isn't it more disgusting that a "Family Values" lobbyist who works “to champion marriage and family as the foundation of civilization, the seedbed of virtue, and the wellspring of society,” is not only a child molester but an adulterer?

He just happens to have accused trans people of wanting to molest children because they want to use the bathroom they feel most comfortable in. He accuses gay people of undermining family values. He lobbies for groups that want to pass laws about other people's bodies, relationships, and rights.

The news isn't only that he cheated, or that he molested children- it's that he's a closet pervert and a complete, utter hypocrite.
What does he have to do before his 'fans' stop defending him? Rape/murder/suicide? Bomb a church? Shoot the Pope? What is it going to take?

Things I thought as a kid
Definitely inspired by Jenna Marbles' video.
When I was young I thought the noise of a specific bug I have yet to identify was the sound of the sun shining in summer.
I saw the Disney 'D' as a backwards G for years.
I once read a chart that predicted your full adult height based on your age and current height when I was roughly 5-7. I believed in the accuracy of it entirely and got very upset when it predicted I would be 6'3" by the age of 21 when I was already taller than anyone else within several grades. I got to "only" 5'11".

So many Christians in America are complaining how allowing marriage equality will damage the "sacred institution of marriage" but apparently are ignoring the 50% divorce rate among heterosexual couples.
Britney Spears' two day marriage, Kim Kardashian's blatantly commercialized three month marriage, done purely for publicity, and television shows like the Bachelor and Bachelorette that turn marriage into a game have already turned this "sacred sacrament" into a circus performance. Where is the outcry? Why is it that heterosexual couples can blatantly abuse the right to marriage but gays have an uphill battle for equality?

Why are you clothes shopping with four children including an infant? Retail workers are not babysitters.

A woman came into my store with three children under 7 and pushing an infant. She spent over a half hour in the fitting room, letting her girl toddler run around grabbing things unsupervised while her two boys tried to get the infant to stop screaming.
At the checkout, I got her information, including her birthday. She's 4 months younger than me... with 4 children and zero parenting skills. It's sad when someone like me, with no children and no desire to reproduce, can spot your zero parenting skills from a mile away. Telling your little girl "stop" halfheartedly and having zero follow through when she ignores you is pathetic.
Your two boys were grabbing belts off of the wall and hitting each other with them. Clearly this is a behavior learned at home. Clearly this type of parenting is not working out for these children.
